Introduction to Zoom Poker

Zoom Poker is Poker Star's attempt to make the game of poker faster and more fun. Basically, when you fold your hand at one table you are moved to another automatically to start a new hand rather than wait for the current hand to finish. This makes the game much faster and more intense.

However does the speed take away from the game of poker? Poker isn’t just about playing hands, it's about learning how others at the table bet, how often they bluff, do they rate their pocket cards too high, do they let money in the pot cloud their judgement, do they always limp, do they fold under pressure unless and many other traits and trends that will help your game.

If you find Zoom Poker attractive because there are no boring waits, you are playing poker wrong. This whole part of the game is lost in Zoom Poker. And this, in our opinion, is quite a downfall.

However, Zoom Poker is good for people who are new to the game or people who like fast gambling. It does require less skill but the thrill of continuous betting is appealing to many. People who want to improve their poker game would be better off not playing, but people who like fast action and big betting should give it a try. It is really good fun but just doesn’t compare to a normal game.

Zoom Poker is available on no limit hold’em, pot limit Omaha and 5 card draw. At the time of writing there are no Zoom tournaments and only cash games are available.

In a nutshell, Zoom Poker is good for people looking something a little different or who enjoy the rush of fast gambling. It does have its downfalls, but also merits in its own right, so why not give it a go and see for yourself. Be prepared to see your stack rise and drop quickly and remember to play tight.
