JJ Hazan: a poker legend?

Jeraint (JJ) Hazan is a poker player from England. He also appeared on the BBC’s hit series Dragons' Den. Let's have a quick look at JJ Hazan's poker history...

The Londoner had his biggest win in 2006 when he took $452,164 after finishing second in the master classics of the poker main event in Holland. His second biggest win came in 2007, when he won $47,567 by finishing first in the £500 no limit hold’em event in the Grosvenor UK poker tour in London. He finished in the money in an event in the 2008 World Series of Poker. He also finished 16th in the H.O.R.S.E event, taking home $10,283.

To date he has won $561,142 in prize money.

In 2009, JJ Hazan appeared on Dragons' Den asking for a £65,000 investment so that he could enter high stakes poker tournaments. He didn’t get the investment in the end, but did give it a good go!

Peter said that he didn’t want to take a gamble on him and JJ returned that he wasn’t a gambler, he was a poker player. He went on to explain that he had a degree in psychology and was very good at reading people. He argued that he would succeed in winning the Dragons a good profit.

He was offering the Dragons 40% of his winnings for their £65,000 investment. None of the Dragons were interested, but it was a fresh idea from Jeraint (and let's face it, it would have been more entertaining to see him get the money rather than someone making night lights).

JJ started playing poker back in 1980 and his favourite poker game is Omaha Hi-Lo.
