2012 World's Best Poker Players to watch out for

In an industry where a million things can quickly turn a competitive year into a mediocre one and where there is a rapidly expanding global pool of professional players, it is probably a fool’s errand to dig through the thousands of good professional poker players to pick out the most promising players to look out for. However, we take the bull by the horn and make our pick of 2012 World's Best Poker Players to watch out for in comming years based on recent performances in major professional tournaments.

Best Poker Players to watch out for 2012

We are betting on these professional players to give us some impressive results in major tournaments in the near future:

1. Marcel Bjerkmann

Marcel Bjerkman, born in Oslo, Norway, has managed to remain relatively unknown despite having poker cashes of over $2.3 million. The reason for his going unnoticed is mainly because he plays mostly in random European poker events and spends the majority of his time in Belgium. However, we predict it won’t be long before everyone recognises the talents of the Norwegian who’s online exploits are even more impressive.

Bjerkman, who goes by the name p3rc4 online, has $1.3 million in online earnings that include a $200,000 win in the PokerStars Sunday Million on October 2012 and WCOOP bracelet in HORSE in 2011 after only appearing in four listed live cashes. Given that record, we place Bjerkman on our list of leading 2012 World's Best Poker Players to look out for in the near future.

2. Grayson Ramage

Grayson Ramage, born in Reb Hook, New York but living in Canada and Mexico in order to continue playing poker, boasts an impressive mix of online and live tournament experience that make him a polished player all round. His biggest live scores came in 2009 when he was 35th in the WSOP Main Event and third in the $500, 000 WSOPC event for $100, 000. His deep runs in subsequent events, particularly in Prague, make us feel we are only seeing the beginning of a series of dominant performances in live events from the American.

3. Mike Telker

Finally on our list of 2012 World's Best Poker Players to watch out for is Mike Telker from Michigan, USA. With a first place score in the pocket fives leaaderboard late in 2011 and over $3.2 million in online poker earnings, the American is probably the best poker player that you have never heard about. He has made a number of appearances in live events in Europe, including appearing in the 2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event at EPT Loutraki where he turned at number seventh for €6,450. We expect that if he focuses his attention to live games, he’ll likely be the most exciting player to watch in all events he participates.
